The Campus RV Park

Located in the heart of historical Independence, Missouri, the Campus RV Park is situated on 17 acres of gently sloping suburban land just a half dozen miles east of downtown Kansas City, and is very nearby to some of the best attractions in the greater KC area. The park is open all year round and offers big rig friendly pull through sites with concrete pads and picnic tables. The sites include a full range of hookups from 30 to 50 amp electric, water, sewer, and free wifi. Roads throughout the park are paved to allow for smoother access, and there is plenty of grass between sites for kids to play. Pets are welcomed, but they must be leashed when not inside the fenced dog run. Some of the facilities include restrooms with hot showers, a nice clean laundry, a recycle container for metal, paper and plastic, and a recreation field. Management is friendly and helpful, and lives on site. This is a great little park, especially for an overnight stay.

What began as an idea by a group of car enthusiasts soon turned into a reality for the Kansas City car community. Two years of grassroots marketing and four awards later, the Kansas City Automotive Museum received its first major donation from a private donor, making the long awaited museum possible. The idea of an automotive museum in Kansas City makes a lot of sense for car enthusiasts.The Kansas City area is home to major automotive and motorcycle manufacturing, racing and a vibrant collector community. They have a long, storied and proud automotive heritage that needs to be preserved and celebrated. The museum highlights significant Kansas City automotive history such as 1965 Le Mans winner Masten Gregory (the "Kansas City Flash"), the Ford Winchester Plant, and Greenlease Cadillac. In addition, the Kansas City Automotive Museum hosts car club meetings and special events throughout the year.

The sites are wide so you get plenty of space between you and your neighbours, and there are trees for shade. There is plenty to do on site if you don't want to go out. You get both waterfront and pool access, there is a trail to hike along, which takes you to the lake, and there is a playground for the kids as well as a pet area. If you want to venture further afield, you are just 17 miles from the city of Lawrence, where you can shop until you drop. There are also plenty of restaurants here, from fast food to fine dining. Massachusetts Street is the place to go for great shops and restaurants. If you are a history buff, why not visit the Biodiversity Institute & Natural History Museum.

There are 82 campsites on the premises. Full hookups are available on 30 of the sites while 13 sites have electric and water. Ten sites have only electric. There is an attendant on duty at all time. The showers and restrooms are excellent and available for registered guests. The park also provides ice, firewood, picnic tables, laundry, grills, and a playground. There are excellent recreational facilities in the area including lakes, marinas, and public swimming beaches. The golf courses in the area are outstanding. There are also hiking and biking trails for some relaxing time in the outdoors. Anglers will find fishing holes with the chance of a delicious fish dinner at the end of the day. The proximity of Kansas City provides endless opportunities for an enjoyable camping trip.

Hikers will enjoy the six hiking trails, and nature lovers will enjoy the scenic limestone outcrops throughout the woods. As people drive through the area, there is a good chance they will view deer, turkeys, and other wildlife in their natural habitats.
