The Burr Oak Woods

The Burr Oak Woods is a wonderful place for visitors in Blue Springs, Missouri. The park has received many enthusiastic reviews from recent visitors. The park is especially popular with bird watching enthusiasts from near and far. There is a nature center in the park with an indoor bird viewing area that is listed by the Audubon Society of Missouri on the Conservation Area Bird List. The park includes several demonstration sites with glades, savannas, woodland natural community restorations, and much more. Demonstrations provided show how tree harvesting and thinning improves forest health and wildlife habitat. In addition, visitors have the chance to use interactive, hands-on displays and exhibits. There is a 3,000 gallon aquarium, an indoor wildlife viewing room, and interpretive exhibits on the fish, forests, and aquatic habitats of Missouri. Hikers will enjoy the six hiking trails, and nature lovers will enjoy the scenic limestone outcrops throughout the woods. As people drive through the area, there is a good chance they will view deer, turkeys, and other wildlife in their natural habitats.
The Campus RV Park
Located in the heart of historical Independence, Missouri, the Campus RV Park is situated on 17 acres of gently sloping suburban land just a half dozen miles east of downtown Kansas City, and is very nearby to some of the best attractions in the greater KC area. The park is open all year round and offers big rig friendly pull through sites with concrete pads and picnic tables. The sites include a full range of hookups from 30 to 50 amp electric, water, sewer, and free wifi. Roads throughout the park are paved to allow for smoother access, and there is plenty of grass between sites for kids to play. Pets are welcomed, but they must be leashed when not inside the fenced dog run. Some of the facilities include restrooms with hot showers, a nice clean laundry, a recycle container for metal, paper and plastic, and a recreation field. Management is friendly and helpful, and lives on site. This is a great little park, especially for an overnight stay.
Walnut Grove RV Park
Tucked away near the heart of the Merriam Downtown Business District, Walnut Grove RV Park offers short and long term lots while in your RV rental from Kansas City. There are many historical sites in the area including the Mahafee Stage Coach Stop and Shawnee Mission Indian Museums, both are great to explore with your RV rental. Please ask for brochures and maps. The Gambling Boats are Harrah?s, Argosy, Isle of Capri and Hollywood Casino. All are located about 15 minutes away on the river, just a short drive from RV park.
