Family-friendly Tiny Outdoor Habitat | 2014 Cricket Taxa Trailer
Excellent
Sleeps 4
15 ft. long
The Cricket connects to a standard 2″ ball hitch, with a 7-pin plug (4-pin adapter). We were able to go 8 days straight without refilling the water tank (on canny usage: cleaning dishes and for washing hands; used the coin showers provided by the park); only the solar panel was connected to keep the battery charged. That way it's possible to book regular tent campsite. No hook-up needed (yet possible). The manufacturer estimates that the water tank and battery last up to 3 days under normal usage. The two kids berths hanging from the ceiling can be folded up when not in use (they provide more storage) and can hold up to 130lb each. Our two toddlers sleep there. The double bed is ideal for people up to 6 feet (tested and works fine up to 6.2') and very wide.***
House Rules:
You'll need a legal spot to camp (wilderness permit, Harvest Hosts, campground reservation, etc.)
No usage with outdoor conditions around or below freezing point (the plumbing is not insulated and will break!)What's includedMattress topper with cover. Basic kitchen equipment for 4.
Optional: Adult/kids camping chairs, camping charcoal grill, solar lights, outdoor games, portable space heater.
Longer trips: Drinking water hose and filter. Power cable. Addon: 100w Solar PanelRecommendationsWe took it all all the way from Olympia National Park down to Death Valley – snow to burning heat. The kids loved it.
For super hot days: The windows with bug screens open wide for circulation.
For super cold days: For 2 people the roof can be popped down (sides and windows are double-pane, but the popup is tent). With 4 people a space heater is nice for changing but we didn't need it during the night.Other things to noteThe kids berth work great from 3 to 10y old and there is little risk for the lil' ones to roll out, but they will need to go up and down.
