Discover Franklin Pierce Lake RV rentals for memorable road trips

Named for the 14th president of the United States, Franklin Pierce, this New Hampshire lake, Franklin Pierce Lake was dammed in 1926 to supply hydroelectric power to the local power plant. As the water levels rose, flooding the valley, the locals saw an opportunity for recreational fishing and outdoor adventures. The lake is also known as Jackman Reservoir. Save for a few weeks in summer; the lake is rarely crowded. Often, the only other presence on the lake is a fellow fisherman or boating enthusiast enjoying the water on an early, quiet morning.

Getting Outdoors

Though it’s a small lake, clocking in at about 519 acres, the many coves and inlets make it feel larger and isolated. Glide into a hidden hollow shaded by tall firs and maples and cast a lure into the water. A warm-water fishery, many species of fish, swim within these waters, including largemouth and smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, and rainbow and brown trout. The trouts are occasionally restocked by the state to supplement the population.

Camping at Franklin Pierce Lake

Skip the hotels’ shrill alarms and let the soothing sounds of nature wake you in a rental RV. Surrounded by sheer wilderness, birdsong and wind in the trees will rouse you. Though camping at Franklin Pierce Lake isn’t possible, seeing as there’s no campground, there are several options nearby.

Exploring the Area

After spending a few days surrounded by wilderness, sometimes it’s necessary to come up for air and interact with fellow mankind. There are several attractions in the area, and exploring them all is a breeze in a rental motorhome. The New Hampshire School of Falconry is the largest and oldest falconry program in New England. Visitors can sign up for introductory classes (typically about two hours) and get hands-on experience with handling raptor birds. Alternatively, group demonstrations with master falconer may be a good option. The hour-long program educates guests about different types of raptors, complete with flying demonstrations. There are a few other programs and workshops available, depending on the group size and time. (Call ahead to inquire).

We couldn't have asked for a better host! Ryan was willing to work with us for pickup/dropoff times and very informative. He genuinely seemed like he just wanted us to have a good time. He was easy to contact and quick to respond. The camper was clean, well stocked and simple to figure out. We'll definitely be renting from Ryan & booking this beauty again!
