On Wellesley Island in the St. Lawrence River, it is a haven for anglers, swimmers, and hikers. Boaters are in luck – there are a full-service marina and three boat launches. Minna Anthony Common Nature Center is one of the main attractions, encompassing wooded wetlands, rugged granite outcrops, and a museum. A nine-hole golf course is another place within the park where you can enjoy the great outdoors. Don’t forget to admire the one-of-a-kind scenery of countless small islands dotting the river slowly finding its way to Lake Ontario. The shores of Lake Ontario are home to many state parks protecting their beauties, and campers shouldn’t miss out on paying a visit to Selkirk Shores State Park. Fill your day with fun activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and fishing, and top it off by watching the sunset reflect on the lake sitting next to your rental RV. Anglers will also feel at home on the lake, while hikers and bikers can explore the network of trails meandering around it and through the rest of the park. Another interesting activity to take part in is birdwatching – the park is a stop for different species of migratory birds. If you want to experience the untamed side of the Adirondacks, pay a visit to the Independence River Wild Forest. Tens of lakes and ponds, rolling hills, and wetlands are some of the incredible natural features waiting for travelers in this oasis. Hiking, biking, and horseback riding are great ways to explore the forest, and you can also opt for paddling. Campers will find primitive campsites and a chance to completely disconnect from civilization. Winter is reserved for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. An abundance of wildlife will make your visit even more exciting, from black bears and white-tailed deer to bald eagles and wild turkeys.
