The small town of Sanford, North Carolina is found in the heart of the state between the large cities of Raleigh and Charlotte. Sanford is named for C.O. Sanford, a railroad engineer who was responsible for bringing the first railways to the town. The theater still operates to this day, often times hosting theatrical productions and musical performances. The Historic Railroad House is a gothic revival building that is crucial to the town’s history due to the importance of the railway that led to its creation. The building operates as a museum showcasing photography, informational plaques, and artifacts dating back to the ancient indigenous tribes that lived in Sanford thousands of years ago.
