Discover Springfield, OH

What was once Shawnee indigenous land in central Ohio is now home to the mid-sized city of Springfield. This lovely town sits conveniently along Interstate 80 between the state capital, Columbus, and the city of Dayton.

Due to Springfield’s positioning as the original terminus of the United States’ first highway, the National Road, it has been a significant city both culturally and economically. The old city hall is just one of countless historically important edifices in Springfield, with many more vintage examples of architectural beauty throughout the town. Springfield’s love for the outdoors is noteworthy too, as it has encouraged the building and maintaining of several greenway trails and bicycle paths for people to use in an effort to stay healthy. It might not have the notoriety of Cincinnati or Cleveland or the widespread appeal of Dayton and Columbus, but Springfield surely has carved out its own special place in the heart of Ohio. With lots of beautiful forests and exciting attractions within driving distance, it is no wonder so many people choose to book an RV in Springfield and explore the state.

Explore the Outdoors

If you are wondering where the best places are to take your Springfield rental RV during your vacation, you are in luck. There are tons of great places near and far to see when you rent an RV. Buck Creek State Park could not be easier to find as it is only a few minutes from town. This year-round recreation haven is centered around the C.J. Brown Reservoir, an artificial lake. People enjoy hiking around the lake and observing various species of wildlife or waterskiing on the lake. Others prefer to fish for walleye or bass in the wide-open lake or perhaps go for a swim. There are many campsites that are more than suitable for your Springfield camper rental.

Caesar Creek State Park is halfway to Cincinnati, providing travelers with another exciting park to use. There are a number of impressive hiking trails and loops to be found at Caesar Creek, and Caesar Creek Lake is a gorgeous body of water in which you can take a dip or fish. Caesar Creek Pioneer Village is a fascinating, replica village that mirrors a pioneer settlement from the nineteenth century, with a blacksmith shop, a Quaker meeting house, and a schoolhouse. The park also has its own nature center for people of all ages to learn about the natural environment at the park, and the many animals that call it home. Indian Lake State Park is yet another fabulous lake-centric park where you can stay in your Springfield motorhome rental overnight. The lakeside campground has spacious campsites for RV renters to utilize, in addition to a swimming pool and several boat launches.

Wayne National Forest on the other side of Columbus is one of the most aesthetically pleasing stretches of wilderness in the Buckeye state. The North Country Trail, the Buckeye Trail, and the American Discovery Trail are all famous long-distance treks that pass through Ohio’s only national forest. This rugged land was once strip-mined for coal but has since bounced back to become a nature reserve where people can enjoy the outdoors. You can even camp overnight.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park cannot be ignored because it is the only national park to be found in the region. The park might be small compared to some of the other national parks in the country, but it is a gorgeous little slice of paradise with divine waterfalls and lush forests. There are limited camping opportunities at the national park but you and your Springfield RV rental by owner should be able to secure a place to camp.

With Outdoorsy, you rent directly from the RV owner but get the backing of programs like roadside assistance, insurance, and stellar support from real, live people 24/7.

On average, you can expect to pay between $75 and $150 per night to rent most small trailers and campervans. Larger trailers and motorhomes could cost $100 to $250 per night. Renting an RV for a longer time can be even more affordable–a week or month-long rental could average out to less than $60 per day.

Are there RV rentals with unlimited mileage?

Yes! Each RV owner can choose whether to offer unlimited miles on their vehicles. You’ll be able to see if unlimited mileage is an option on any listing you check out. If unlimited miles are not available, you’ll be able to see what is included with the base rate and what extra miles will cost.

Are RV rentals pet-friendly?

Many RV owners allow pets in their rentals. Be sure to check the listing to see if it’s an option for the rig you have your eye on. You’ll be able to see if there is an extra deposit or fee for pets before you request a booking.

Do RV rentals offer delivery?

Having an RV delivered to your home or destination is a great way to simplify your trip. Many RV owners offer delivery and setup services, usually for an extra fee or within a certain distance of their location. Each listing shows whether or not delivery is an option.
