Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.
Haworth is a town in McCurtain County that was established in 1903. Its early economy focused on processing nearby tree stands, and numerous mills popped up to process the timber. The new town's development languished despite an early surge in lot sales; this continued until Oklahoma was approved as a state in 1907, after which the town became known as a source of lumber. Farmers moved in and occupied the cleared land, making cotton their main cash crop. The town continued to boom until the forests were almost completely harvested and the bottom fell out of the cotton market. As the Great Depression took hold, many businesses either closed or relocated and many of the town center's brick buildings were torn down. Federal and private funding in the 1970s helped the town and community to reverse the situation.
