The town of Corbett, Oregon is a small one, located between Sandy River and Crown Point on the Historic Columbia River Highway. There’s not a whole lot to see in the town, so when you book an RV in Corbett, you’ll be doing some driving to reach the attractions in nearby communities. Portland, Oregon’s largest city, is only a short drive away and has tons of amenities like great shopping, delicious restaurants, and cultural attractions. Portland’s public transportation system doesn’t quite reach Corbett, but it comes quite close, making it possible to park on the outskirts of town and not worry about traffic with your motorhome rental from Corbett.

However, visitors don’t always book an RV rental in Corbett because of its proximity to the big city. Many travelers choose it for its beautiful landscapes along the Columbia River and the peacefulness that comes with being outside the metropolitan area. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you’re going to love getting a camper rental in Corbett.

Discover Corbett

The Great Outdoors

Corbett is essentially surrounded by parklands, so you only need to step outside it to be enjoying the great outdoors. Bridal Veil Falls State Scenic Viewpoint is just a short distance to the east of Corbett and has a couple of trails leading to the stunning 120-foot-high falls. The hike isn’t too strenuous and is suitable for most ages and fitness levels.

Crown Point State Scenic Corridor lies to the east of Corbett and is meant to protect the amazing views of the Columbia River Gorge just outside of town. The main attraction in the corridor is Vista House, an octagonal building perched on a cliff overlooking the gorge that was designed to be a rest stop on the river. Now it’s a museum that provides refreshments to those standing in awe of the magnificent gorge.

Mount Hood National Forest is an outdoor playground for all the nature lovers of the Portland area. Mount Hood's summit is the highest point in the state of Oregon and getting to it requires significant hiking experience and stamina, which puts it out of reach of the casual visitor. However, you can still get some fantastic views of the peak from a number of lower elevation trails in the surrounding area.

RV Parks

Crown Point RV Park is in Corbett, so if you don’t want to drive far when you rent an RV here, this could be a good park to choose. Sites have full hookups along with access to laundry facilities, showers, and a small grocery store. Crown Point is near the famed Columbia River Gorge, with its striking waterfalls and endless watersports opportunities.

Another option when you choose a travel trailer rental in Corbett is the Sandy Riverfront RV Resort, which is just outside of Portland. The park has many of the same amenities as Crown Point including full hookups and showers, though it has a bit more suburban feel to it and is closer to the attractions of the city. It’s also right off Interstate 84, making it one of the more convenient parks to stay near Corbett.

Oxbow Regional Park is to the south of Corbett, on the banks of the Sandy River. This could be a good choice if you want a rustic camping situation. Sites at Oxbow have no hookups, though there are hot showers and flush toilets available. The park has over 12 miles of trail to explore, making this a nice option for those wanting to do some hiking.

Exploring the City

Most of the interesting activities in the Corbett area involve some sort of outdoor recreation, so if you prefer your activities to be inside, you’ll probably need to head in Portland’s direction. There you’ll find some of the best dining options (the variety of food trucks is astounding) and cultural events. Like most major cities, it's home to many festivals and outdoor concerts during the summer months too, including Beer Week, Pedalpalooza, and the Riverfront Blues Festival.

For a little retail therapy, stop in at the outlet mall near Troutdale. Numerous high-end retailers have discount versions of their stores here so you’ll almost certainly pick up some great deals. Its location just off of Route 30 makes it an easy place to stop when you get an RV rental in Corbett, OR. More unusual items can be found at the Troutdale Antique Mall, which stocks all sorts of vintage odds and ends that could make great gifts for friends and family back home.

You also might enjoy the Troutdale Depot Rail Museum, which sits inside a functioning Amtrak station. The original depot burned down in 1907, about 25 years after rail service came to the area. The new depot was built shortly after that and now contains a fair bit of memorabilia from the past 130 years of service. There’s also a 1970’s era caboose that sits outside the depot, waiting to be explored.
