Discover Hermiston RV rentals for memorable road trips

Just between Interstate 84 and the Columbia River in northern Oregon is one of the area’s fastest-growing small cities. Hermiston is in a favorable location in the midst of fabulous landscapes. For thousands of years, the land Hermiston now sits on was home to native people like the Walla Walla and Umatilla tribes. In 1847, Catholic missionaries established a mission in Hermiston, introducing the locals to the ways of the European colonists. Hermiston slowly grew into a fledgling town, later incorporating in 1907. It is said that the town was named after the Weir of Hermiston, a novel by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The Great Outdoors

Just about every conceivable location inside Oregon is close to some sort of park or recreation area, and the state is, of course, famous for its rugged coastlines and towering Cascade Mountains. The mighty Columbia River rages several miles to the north, proving to be a major lifeline and a natural attraction for tourists to see. Along the river, you will find dozens of parks that allow access to swimming and fishing areas. Hat Rock State Park is right on the water north of town and named for Hat Rock, a strangely shaped basalt rock formation thought to be over twelve million years old. There is a network of hiking trails connecting throughout the park, as well as scenic overlooks and a campground you can use with your Hermiston motorhome rental. Warehouse Beach Recreation Area and Sand Station Recreation Area are just two of the other parks you can see close to Hat Rock, each with tiny campgrounds and swimming areas in the river.

RV Parks

There is an abundance of campgrounds close to Hermiston, so you and your Hermiston camper rental should have the pick of the litter when it comes to choosing an accommodating place to sleep overnight. RedTail RV Park is a pet-friendly park with handicap accessible bathrooms and showers, paved RV pads, as well as RV and boat storage.

City Attractions

Hermiston isn’t normally known for its museums or big city attractions, but you still might find a few things worth looking into when you rent an RV in the small city. The downtown Hermiston Historic District is full of old buildings that were among the first structures built in the city back in the 19th century, so walking around is a nice way to get a feel for the historical heritage of Hermiston.
