To ensure this we have outlined a few key details below to help determine that this rental is a great fit for you.

Other things to noteSafety:
- Avoid slamming on brakes at all times.
*Pump brakes if you need to stop suddenly for any reason. Please never slam and hold down the brakes. Tires can melt and pop causing a a crash, causing thousands in damages.
- When using your trailer brake settings, you should be fine with 3.5 to 4.5 max, and never have to squeeze the inside brake levels on your dash, unless emergency, and please ask about this. It is designed to skid the trailer brakes, for example, if swaying but since we have a Sway Bar included with your rental, you should never have to do this.
- PLEASE always drive slower than speed limit, 10 to 15 under Limits, as many people pull in front of you, who are ignorant to the 8k+ lbs that you have in tow.
* Rule: Be prepared for the [insert synonym for idiots] on the road, when driving!
- Towing is easy. Backing up is little harder, but you will get comfortable, if you even ever have to back up. Many RV Resorts have pull through.
- Pulling into Gas Stations, always first choose station with parallel drive thru pumps, not the ones perpendicular to the building. Trust me! People will park and block you, and you may get stuck, and need to backup, vs pull thru.
- Always remember to check Blinkers, and Brake Lights, and make sure the 2 Step is pushed in, as tickets for leaving steps out, never mind risk of damages, is min of $350, now in most US States.
- Always remember to turn off the Propane Tank, when driving and refill upon return (please keep receipt to show at drop-off); otherwise $25 fee + cost of propane will be taken out of security deposit
- Sometimes the GFI outlets will kick - so any power issues, check those.
- Email a list of questions a day or two prior, vs texting questions 1 by 1, as your trip approaches.
- Bring a cooler as back up for dairy items, as long trips, the fridge is not ON and things can be warmer than you prefer. We do turn on fridge the night before, and its usually cold, at 34 to 38 when you leave.
- Always remember that awning needs to be rolled back up, if Windy/rainy out at all. Those can tear off with one good gust of wind, and it's over $1k to repair, or replace.
- Anything that breaks or any damages, please make sure to alert us. Any items broken, and not reported, or if you bring a pet onboard without alerting us, the fine is doubled.
- Any traffic tickets received - you must alert us, as we can charge x2 the cost/fees, for failure to alert us in time - and Outdoorsy supports these x2 charges 100%

Meet your host, Elizabeth

Member since 2020

We started our Airstream journey when our son was born in Denver - March 2020 and the Covid pandemic hit. We were desperate to show him off to his grandparents in Chicago and New England and had lots of plans for summer, but flying and hotels quickly became suspect and we didn't like our options. We took to Facebook marketplace and connected with a lovely retired couple who were selling their rig - the husband had recently become sick and the spouse couldn't manage the rig herself - we took over the reins on their 2016 flying cloud with the additional promise that we'd document our east coast trip that they always dreamed of taking, but didn't get a chance to do. We spent 7 weeks on the road with our 2 month old at the time and loved every minute. We decided our family vacations, in the safe confines of our airstream where you can eat, sleep, cook, shower, use a toilet etc was the socially distanced vacationing we'd be doing for the next couple years and certainly enjoy even when the world solved for a vaccine. Net net, we really loved what flexibility, comfort, and safety the airstream provided us on our adventures, and we are enthusiastic about having others experience adventure in a similar way, so that's the reasoning behind us renting while we're not using the rig. Happy travels!
