Overlooking the Juniata River, Huntingdon serves as the seat of Huntingdon County in the center of Pennsylvania. It is believed to have been named after the English town and was first settled by Rev. Dr. William Smith in the mid-18th century. It lies along the main line of the Norfolk Southern Railway and is a regular stop on the passenger service that connects Harrisburg with Pittsburgh.
