Founded in 1846, Cedar Hill is known for being on one of the routes for the Chisholm Trail. In 1932, bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde’s cohort, Raymond Hamilton robbed the First State Bank of Cedar Hill...twice. Imprisoned for his crimes, Bonnie and Clyde broke him out of the jail in 1934. The crew was rumored to have a hideout on the outskirts of Cedar Hill.
The closest large town is Dallas, about 20 miles to the northeast. Arlington, which is where Six Flags over Texas is located, is 18 miles to the north. Fort Worth, Dallas’ sister city, is a little over 30 miles to the northwest.
