Discover Galena Park RV rentals for memorable road trips

The first known settler was Issac Batterson, who moved to the area with his family in 1833. He purchased a portion of the land from a Texan rancher who owned several thousand acres. Once the Batterson home was built, a few other residents moved in and built homes nearby. The colony, which was originally named Clinton, didn’t really take off till the early 1900s. At that time, Clinton applied for a post office to make things official, and the request was rejected on the premise that there was another town with the same name. The name, Galena Park, was chosen in a nod to the Galena-Signal Oil Company, which was a major employer at the time. With the new name, the request was approved.

The Great Outdoors

It’s every adventurer’s dream: to explore lands virtually untouched by mankind and watch wild animals in a natural setting. The reality isn’t always so fun, though. Mosquitoes, humidity, and leaky tents. Renting an RV in Galena Park is the perfect solution to those problems. There are several wilderness parks in the area. The largest is the Sam Houston National Forest, which boasts a whopping 163,000 acres of pure wilderness. Deer are plentiful, and so are feral hogs. Heads up: if you see a feral hog, retreat. They can be highly aggressive. For the most part, they avoid the highly trafficked trails, though. The longest trail in Sam Houston National Forest is the Lone Star Trail, which is an impressive 50 miles. It winds through mature pine and hardwood forests, around lakes, and through fresh, bright meadows. After the first 5 miles or so, traffic on this trail dwindles significantly. Bring your Galena camper rental as there are three developed campgrounds with hookups, restrooms, and showers. Some of the other campgrounds welcome RVs and motorhomes, but lack hookups.

RV Parks

When searching for an RV rental, don’t forget to plan for overnight stays. Street parking is discouraged. Houston Metro area is very friendly to the RV community, and there are several RV parks and campgrounds nearby. East Park Village RV Park in Channelview, for example, touts a countryside atmosphere in an urban setting. It features amenities like 30/50 amps, roomy lots with shade trees, and easy access to fishing.

Exploring the City

Why constrain yourself to downtown Houston when a Galena Park luxury RV rental makes it so easy to get around and explore? Visitors don’t need astronaut training to tour the NASA’s Johnson Center and the Space Center, south of Houston. The Space Center is a leading space exploration and science multisensory center. It has, among many exhibits, a VR simulator in which visitors can embark on a spacewalk aboard the International Space Station, and a motion simulator that mimics a zero-gravity environment.
