Gillett is a small town in Karnes County, TX, with many of the town’s services provided by Karnes County and Karnes City. The town was first settled in the mid-1800s. A local businessman dammed a creek to power mills for his businesses. The town grew from there. It was eventually renamed in 1905 to honor E.G. Gillet, a local newspaper proprietor.
