Texas City was founded by three brothers from Duluth, Minnesota on a duck hunting trip in the early 1890s. The three brothers, known as the Myers brothers, saw the possibility for the area to become a prominent port due to its location on the bay and decided to buy 10,000 acres of land in the area, which is now known as Texas City.
