Discover Germantown Lake RV rentals for memorable road trips

Germantown Lake is located in eastern Virginia, an hours drive west of the cities of Alexandria, Reston, and the nation’s capital Washington D.C. Germantown Lake was constructed in 1985 with the damming of the ‘Licking Run,' an off-stream of the Occoquan River. Surrounded by the C.M. Crockett Park, the lake lies in some of the greenest countrysides Virginia has to offer. This picturesque landscape, combined with excellent recreational opportunities, makes Germantown Lake an ideal place to take an RV rental. Access to Germantown Lake with a rental RV is made simple with Highway 610 passing the southernmost shore. Campgrounds can be found all over Fauquier County, making camping with an RV here easy.

Getting Outdoors

Campers in search of the next best angling spots should look no further than Germantown Lake. This lake is home to a wide range of fish species, each with its very own unique sporting characteristics. The lake is known for its high numbers of largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. Although you will hard-pressed to find trophy-sized fish here, the high number of fish surely makes up for it. Whether Germantown Lake campers fish from the extensive shoreline or a boat out on the lake, with such a well-stocked lake, success is never too hard to find.

Camping at Germantown Lake

When you decide to go RV camping at Germantown Lake, you have a variety of choices when it comes to choosing a campsite. The one to pick all depends on camper’s personal preferences and how close you wish to be to the lake itself. ‘Aquia Pines Campground’ is a short drive south from Germantown Lake, and offers a range of camping facilities and amenities. Full hookups are provided here, including 20, 30, 50 amp electric, water, and sewer. Facilities include a dump station, laundrette, RV storage unit, and an on-site swimming pool. There are many pull-thru sites at Aquia Pines Campground, meaning all sizes of rigs are welcomed here.

Exploring the Area

With the nation’s capital only being an hour’s drive from Germantown Lake, a range of day trips and famous attractions are on camper’s doorstep. One of Washington’s and most famous sites is the ‘Lincoln Memorial’ and is a must-see when in the city. The memorial consists of a giant seated sculpture of former president Abraham Lincoln and makes an awe-inspiring visit. The memorial is made from Georgian marble and is crafted in the greek-revival style. A visit here can also be combined with a visit to the nearby Korean and Vietnam veterans memorials.

Overall we had a really great experience with Forrest and the van! It's a longer one at 22 feet so felt spacious for two people and easy enough to drive. The bed is very comfortable and there is LOTS of storage for clothes, gear, food, dishes, etc. The van has all the basics for cooking plus a toaster and an air fryer which was great to have. The doors have screens, which is nice for cooking and hanging out when it's warm. There is hot water too! Nice windows near the bed, nice to have fresh air when sleeping. Forrest provided nice sheets, blankets and towels.
