In Southwest Washington, just north of Portland, Oregon, is Brush Prairie. The name of this small community is derived from a brushy type of prairie and swamp that used to sit on an early settler’s father’s homestead. To the northeast is Gifford Pinchot National Forest, close to Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument. If you head west, you’ll run into Clatsop State Forest north of Tillamook State Forest in Oregon.
