Discover Manchester State Park, WA

Manchester State Park is located near Manchester, on the shoreline of Kitsap Peninsula. This 111-acre recreation area comes complete with 3,400 feet of beach which keeps outdoor adventurers coming back year after year. This secluded haven is a perfect getaway for beach bums and military history buffs. Guests love to come here to camp in a motorhome, play volleyball with their friends, go boating or kayaking, or explore the ocean while scuba diving.

Even though there are only two hiking trails here, the park's pleasant weather conditions and biodiversity make these hikes worth your while. As long as you pay attention to your surroundings, you should have no trouble spotting woodland critters like raccoons, skunks, rabbits, and squirrels. You might even see some bigger mammals such as bears, deer, or coyotes. Due to the park’s proximity to the coast, avian predators like eagles and hawks often come here to roost.

The park is really close to Bainbridge Island; however, the ferry journey out to the island takes approximately an hour. Still, getting an RV rental should be a piece of cake. All you need to do is search for an RV in Kitsap County and find a vehicle that suits your needs.

Getting Outdoors

To say you'll have an interesting time here would be an understatement, as Manchester State Park caters to adventurers of all kinds with a variety of recreational activities. One of the main attractions that first-timers love to visit is the torpedo warehouse. This magnificent brick building was used to house firing triggers for underwater torpedos. The structure also contains many underwater mine exhibits that were used during WWII.

State park RV camping with friends and family is fun and exciting, and it's even better when you get to compete against one another. The park boasts a playground with horseshoe pits where your kids can play, and the beach is a great place to play volleyball if you have enough people to form a team. Alternatively, you can opt for something that requires fewer players, like badminton. The more adventurous among you can have a kayak race.

Manchester State Park campers who come here to fish will be happy to hear that game can be found both near the shore and in deeper waters. Should you choose to cast the lines close to the shorelines, you can expect to catch salmon, flatfish, steelhead, and cutthroat trout. For those who prefer to sail away from the coast in order to fish, the game selection will change to green sturgeon, lingcod, and Pacific halibut.

Camping at Manchester State Park

Visitors camping in an RV in Manchester State Park will be glad to hear that there are around 15 sites with water and electric hookups. Out of the park's 50 campsites, the remaining 35 are primitive. There's also a dump station near the camp entrance. Each space comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring.

The maximum RV length allowed is 60 feet, and you can also bring your pets, provided they're leashed throughout your stay. Restrooms and showers are nearby, and generator use is allowed between 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM. You can make a reservation up to nine months in advance.

Exploring the Area

Motorhome camping makes it convenient for you to hit the road when you feel like it and explore the surrounding area. Just 15 minutes away from Manchester State Park is the Log Cabin Museum. Here, you'll get a better picture of what life at South Kitsap was like for the past century through rotating exhibits. To make the experience more engaging, the museum tells the story of the Orchard Family, which is a family of mannequins that lives in the cabin.

Venture just a few minutes down the same road and you'll find the Elandan Gardens. This bonsai museum is set among lush gardens, waterfalls, ponds, and sculptures. Walk among the old-growth trees and grab a unique antique from the gift shop.

Around 20 minutes away from the state park, in the town of Bremerton, you'll find the Bug & Reptile Museum. If you've ever wondered how bugs perceive the world, you'll be able to experience this new perspective firsthand, as the museum has special glasses that basically grant you bug vision. You'll also see the insects up close through a microscope, observe an eight-foot-long ant farm, and marvel at both live reptiles and insects.

A few miles away from the park is the town of Port Orchard, where you'll find stores, gas stations, and a variety of eateries. The restaurant selection unfortunately leaves much to be desired, as there are only a few options, like Thai, Mexican, and American cuisine. Guests will have a lot more options should they decide to travel a bit further to Bremerton.

What are RV rentals?

Renting an RV lets you enjoy the flexibility of RV travel without all the costs and maintenance of ownership. With a rental, you can book the perfect rig for any trip just like you would a car or hotel. With Outdoorsy, you rent directly from the RV owner but get the backing of programs like roadside assistance, insurance, and stellar support from real, live people 24/7.

How much are average RV rentals?

On average, you can expect to pay between $75 and $150 per night to rent most small trailers and campervans. Larger trailers and motorhomes could cost $100 to $250 per night. Renting an RV for a longer time can be even more affordable–a week or month-long rental could average out to less than $60 per day.

Are there RV rentals with unlimited mileage?

Yes! Each RV owner can choose whether to offer unlimited miles on their vehicles. You’ll be able to see if unlimited mileage is an option on any listing you check out. If unlimited miles are not available, you’ll be able to see what is included with the base rate and what extra miles will cost.

Are RV rentals pet-friendly?

Many RV owners allow pets in their rentals. Be sure to check the listing to see if it’s an option for the rig you have your eye on. You’ll be able to see if there is an extra deposit or fee for pets before you request a booking.

Do RV rentals offer delivery?

Having an RV delivered to your home or destination is a great way to simplify your trip. Many RV owners offer delivery and setup services, usually for an extra fee or within a certain distance of their location. Each listing shows whether or not delivery is an option.

Are there RV rentals near me?

RV rentals are available all over the country! Whether you want to pick up an RV near home to set out an epic road trip or if you want to have one ready at your destination, you can search by location for any type of rig.

RV rental vs buying?

Renting an RV is an affordable way to get all the benefits of RV travel without the maintenance and overhead of ownership. It’s also a great way to try out the lifestyle and different types of rigs before you take the plunge and buy your own. Already own an RV? Consider renting yours out to bring in some extra income.

How many people can sleep in an RV?

Small travel trailers and campervans can usually sleep 2-4 people comfortably. Mid-size trailers and motorhomes usually sleep 4-8. Bigger rigs often sleep 6-10, some even 12!

Why choose Outdoorsy vs Craigslist or Airbnb?

Security, for one. Outdoorsy helps protect RV owners and renters with excellent support and insurance options, and a secure platform for listings, communication, and payments. There are plenty of other reasons though, like roadside assistance, detailed listings, and a wide variety of RVs to choose from.
