RV Rental Rainier, WA

The biggest attractions in Rainier are the fantastic outdoor recreation opportunities nearby. If you’re just looking for a place to have a picnic or let the kids run around for a bit, Gehrke Park is the place to go in town. It’s near the center of town and has some decent playground equipment along with a few picnic tables available. A little farther away is Millersylvania State Park, which has almost 10 miles of hiking trails, kayak and pedal boat rentals, and a lake for swimming and fishing.

Few national parks can compare to the grandeur found at Mount Rainier National Park. While the summit of the namesake peak is only accessible to experienced climbers, the surrounding meadows and famous Wonderland Trail are open to nature lovers of all experience levels. These trails can get quite busy during the summer months, and as such, camping along the Wonderland Trail requires a permit that should be applied for months in advance.

When you rent an RV in Rainier, WA, Olympic National Park is 65 miles away and is one of the most interesting wilderness areas in the country. The park is home to one of the few temperate rainforests in the United States - a humid jungle of plant life, along with the soaring 8,000-foot-tall Mount Olympus peak. Numerous day hikes and extended trips are available depending on how much time you would like to commit to the park.

Rainier is a fairly small community and there aren’t too many RV parks in the vicinity.

Flynn’s Harts Lake Resort and RV Park is 15 miles to the east of town and could be a decent place to park the camper rental near Rainier. It’s a pretty small park and has great fishing available in the nearby lake.

For a more rustic experience with the Rainer travel trailer rental, Deschutes River Campground, only 10 miles north of Rainier, could be a good choice. Sites are in an open field and there’s not much in the way of amenities, but it’s not bad if you don’t mind dry camping. Other campgrounds in the area include the American Heritage Campground in Tumwater and Olympia Campground and Fuel, and both are about 15 miles away from Rainier.

If none of these campgrounds suit your needs, there’s also a Walmart in the town of Yelm, five miles to the northeast. Camping with your Rainier RV rental is possible here, just be sure to call ahead to confirm your stay with the store management. Of course, you won’t find any amenities here aside from easy access to a grocery store.

You can fuel up and use the dump station at the gas station in Tumwater. It’s one of the only truck stops nearby, and the larger fuel bays will be easier to maneuver through with your Rainier motorhome rental.

Given its small size, there’s not too much to do in the town proper. Rainier Speedway is one exception, which has kart and motorcycle dirt track races on the weekends. The nearby town of Tenino has the Monarch Contemporary Art Center and Sculpture Park, an impressive collection of metal and stone sculptures displayed in a beautiful woodland setting. The town is also home to Wolf Haven International, a wildlife sanctuary for displaced wolves born in captivity. Reservations are required for a tour of the facilities, so plan accordingly. The town of Yelm also has a few interesting sights including a farmers market, horseback riding at a local farm, and a movie theater. Both towns are excellent day trips to take with your Rainier rental motorhome.
