Rent a camper near Canaan Valley Resort State Park and explore them all.
In the winter the area turns into a major ski resort, offering 49 ski trails, a terrain area, snow tubing area, and chair lift. Although skiing and snowboarding on the well-marked trails are the highlights for many when visiting the park in winter, many people come camping with an RV also for the other activities that are offered in the colder months. Ice skating at Canaan Valley Resort State Park can be a lot of fun, and the large, outdoor covered ice-rink offers beautiful views of the Canaan Valley below. Snow tubing is great fun for the whole family, and the tube run is 1,200 long, one of the longest in the mid-Atlantic.
For those that enjoy other kinds of sport, the valley is also a hotspot. It is home to an 18-hole championship level golf course that brings in visitors from miles around, all hoping to try their luck on the greens. There is also a paragliding launch site on the side of Cabin Mountain used by those that like a bit of an adrenaline rush. This area is accessible using the ski lift. Many people who camp in an RV near Canaan Valley Resort State Park in the summer months choose to take the chairlift up the mountain for the ride itself, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape with very little effort.

The campsite has a number of amenities including paved, wooded access with full hookups, a comfort station with laundry and shower facilities that can be used all year round, ice and firewood available for purchase and a dump station for self-contained units.

When in the area, be sure to make a stop off at the Seneca Caverns, a karst show cave in German Valley. Visitors can enjoy cave tours, adventure caving, gemstone mining, and much more. The caves have been open since 1928 and feature unique geological formations that are visually stunning. For some family fun, gemstone mining is very popular, giving folks the chance to discover their very own take-home treasure. Buy the mining rough at the gift shop, and then use the on-site sluice to sift through for glittering gemstones.
In addition to the park, there are plenty of things to do in Canaan Valley itself. Antiquing is a very popular activity, in the valley, and there are four well known antique shops where you'll find paintings, clothing, pottery, furniture, gifts and more. Shoppers don't have to hunt long to find the perfect gift for a loved one or a treasure to take home for themselves, and it is one of the reasons that so many people get a rental RV in the valley. One of the most unique of these antique shops is the Red House School Country Mall, where you will journey through a 1932 schools house which covers 12,000 square feet, with classrooms and corridors all covered with antiques.
For those with a passion for getting that adrenaline rush, race through Timberline with friends down a huge 1000-foot Zipline which is located 50 feet over the slopes. It is an adventure that you and your friends won't be forgetting anytime soon.
