If you aren't already familiar with this stunning part of the southeastern United States, it’s time to get acquainted. The Gulf Coast has long been considered an ideal vacation destination, with lush forests, conservation areas teeming with wildlife, and undisturbed beaches along the Gulf of Mexico. Gulf State Park is one of the hundreds of places you can visit when renting an RV near Alabama Coast Campground. When you set off for this beach park about 30 minutes' drive to the south, you can comb the beach for treasures like driftwood and seashells, or swim, surf, or build sandcastles. Seaside pavilions, a concession stand, and professional tours provided by park rangers set this park apart from the rest. When you camp at Alabama Coast Campground, you can also visit Big Lagoon State Park and Perdido Key State Park with your Foley motorhome rental. Big Lagoon State Park is a popular destination for people who enjoy boating, canoeing, kayaking, birdwatching, and hiking, among other things. There are swimming areas, fishing spots, hiking paths, and a small campground to accommodate you when you feel like staying at the beach for a night or two. Perdido Key State Park has more of the same features and is a magical place to spend some time, especially if you want to luxuriate on white sand beaches by the azure waters of the Gulf. This barrier island park has large sand dunes that provide marvelous vantage points at sunset and sunrise. Continuing on your explorations of the incredible Gulf Coast beaches, you can check out the Gulf Islands National Seashore near Pensacola Beach, a treasure to say the least. This massive, lengthy coastline has countless miles of protected seashore, conservation areas for migratory birds and other local wildlife, and pristine beaches devoid of human development. This epic chain of barrier islands spans a large chunk of the Gulf Coast, from Mississippi all the way to the Florida Panhandle.
