Skull Valley, Arizona is a rural, ranching community located in Yavapai County. It is located less than thirty minutes from Prescott. The town earned its gruesome name from the American settlers who first found the area. The settlers who first found the valley found a field of bleached human bones. It is unclear exactly what happened but many historians believe that members of the Yavapai tribe had to flee a drought. They sought shelter with their mortal enemies, the Pima tribe, and a battle ensued between the two enemies.

The settlers found the remains of those battles and named the valley after them. The valley was also home to one of the most famous artists in the American Southwest, George Phippen. Phippen was the founder of Cowboy Artists of America. All of this rich history may be experienced in your luxury RV rental from Skull Valley, Arizona.

The climate is semi-arid but there are several types of plants and animals that thrive there. For example, certain kinds of ephedra only grow in Yavapai County. Certain species of ephedra were traditionally used to brew a tea that was enjoyed by Native Americans as well as Mormon settlers.
