Discover Mendocino RV rentals for memorable road trips

Once a Pomo native settlement on the north bank of the Big River, Mendocino is a tiny enclave along California’s Pacific coast. This endearing community looks as though it has been plucked from New England and dropped into Northern California, among the incredible evergreen trees and carved out rocky coastlines. In fact, most of the original settlers in Mendocino were originally from New England, but the town has since developed a reputation for being highly diverse. As a logging and fishing village, it inspired immigrants from all over the world to move to the coast of California in search of prosperity and paradise.

Outdoors Adventures

You need not to travel very far to bask in the beauty of California when you rent an RV in Mendocino; there is literally a state park in the middle of town along the coast. Mendocino Headlands State Park is cherished for its elegant bluffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean. A network of walking paths leads visitors around the park on a tour of these bluffs as well as the beautiful beaches that lay beneath them. The paths are surrounded by towering brambles of roses and blackberries making for an interesting maze-like voyage through the park. When you bring your Mendocino camper rental to the state park, there is also a museum you may enjoy during your time there.

RV Parks to Visit

Renting a motorhome in Mendocino is an absolute breeze but you might be wondering where to stay when you do so. There are several options to check out while in Mendocino, like Caspar Beach RV Park just a few miles north of town. This coastal RV resort has its own private beach, an arcade, a grocery store, and most importantly: incredible sunsets. Van Damme State Park to the south and Russian Gulch State Park the north both have campgrounds for you to use, especially if you already find yourself at one of these parks to enjoy the nature and scenery. There are countless other RV parks up and down the coast, but some of the best places to park are along California Highway 1, which has lots of parking lots overlooking the ocean.

City Sightseeing

This little seaside community is all about aesthetics and you’ll notice that quaint little New England-style homes are common throughout the town. Kelley House Museum is an amazing cottage built in the middle of the 19th century, with tons of unique objects and artifacts on display. The house overlooks the ocean making it an overall pleasure to see. The Ford House Museum is similar in that it is housed in a beautiful old house from the 19th century. The house serves as a visitor center for the Mendocino Headlands State Park in town as well as a history museum carrying artifacts from the Pomo natives that resided in Mendocino before the arrival of settlers.

Great hosts. Gordon explained how everything worked and having the manual helped when I had a question about the outside power supply. It was my first time renting a camper van.
I left my earbuds in the van and Gordon and Dale were quick to find them and I arranges for someone to pick them up at their home.
We had great weather at Fort Bragg and having the van fully stocked with kitchen utensils, pots and pans was appreciated.

This is our third year renting an RV through Outdoorsy. Dan was the absolute best host who communicated clearly. We loved the size of the RV. We have been in smaller and larger RV's. The way the kitchen is laid out and open the whole room (instead of a galley kitchen) made the whole place feel much bigger. It was spotless and Dan's wife left us some flowers in the RV which was a sweet touch. The kitchen had great supplies. I would just add more salad/mixing bowls. Dan delivered our RV on time and showed up on Sunday before noon which was perfect (as we have had to wait in the past). We really enjoyed this experience and would gladly rent from him again in a year!
