Yuba City, California is in the northern half of the state, about 20 miles north of Sacramento. John Sutter, the man upon whose land gold was discovered in 1848, leading to the Gold Rush of 1849, was granted a large expanse of land by the Mexican government in the area that would become Yuba City. It became a steamboat landing in 1852 as more and more people moved into the area in pursuit of their own gold. To the west is Mendocino National Forest near Red Bluff, California. To the northeast is Plumas National Forest, due east of Chico. On the way to Carson City, Nevada is top of National Forest. When you book an RV in Yuba City, you will have plenty of natural wonder with the great outdoors surrounding you in almost every direction.

If you enjoy recreational bicycling, this is a 9-mile course that starts at Hooper Road in Yuba City and takes you through the town of Sutter and back again. You will have to cross a few roads along the way, so use care when you reach these intersections.

Ellis Lake is in nearby Marysville, California, and it’s a good destination when you want to just enjoy some outdoor time in peace with your RV rental near Yuba City. In the spring you’ll notice the geese arriving and it is here that they nest and lay their eggs. If you spot them, give them a wide berth. Otherwise, you could have an angry bird heckling you for quite some time. There are some nice places to set up a picnic and enjoy an afternoon lunch.

Middle Mountain Foundation Interpretive Program Hikes and Tours offer a variety of hikes for just about every level of strength and endurance. You will need to contact Middle Mountain to arrange a guided hike inside the buttes and on private lands, and if you are planning to rent a motorhome in Yuba City, make sure you reach out to Middle Mountain early enough to make this possible.
