Manatee Hammock Park Campground

This part of Florida is known as the Space Coast, and you can check out the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Cape Canaveral when you camp in a motorhome at Manatee Hammock Park Campground. This unique place is not just a museum, but also a center that is used for space exploration and rocket launching. When you visit the complex, you will have access to the KSC Bus Tour along with the Apollo/Saturn V Center, Space Shuttle Atlantis, and the Universe Theater. The theater plays several shows each day, including Astronaut Encounter, Mission Status Briefings, and Eyes on the Universe: NASA’s Space Telescopes. You can also see some other exhibits and attractions, like Heroes and Legends featuring the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, Shuttle Launch Experience, 3D space films in the IMAX Theater, Journey to Mars: Explorers Wanted, and Children’s Play Dome. Only a few minutes' drive from the campground is the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum. This museum and memorial, founded in 1960, was the first of its kind in the US, and honors officers lost in the line of duty. The museum has about 11,000 artifacts and offers educational tours and programs covering the details and history of American law enforcement. The memorial displays the names of officers lost and can be visited six days a week. See police cars, uniforms, prison cells, and so much more at this educational and unique site. Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum is located right next to the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum. It was founded in 1977 and displays an amazing and ever-growing collection of dozens of historic warbird aircraft. This educational museum exhibits some of the rarest warbirds, like a North American XP-82 Twin Mustang. Some other warbirds you can see here on display span from the beginning of aviation to modern-day designs.
