Safety Harbor, Florida, also called “the Jewel of Tampa Bay”, is a small town, located on the northwest corner of Tampa Bay. The town was named after the American Indian tribe who once lived in the area. The nearest large city is Tampa, about 20 miles to the east, while the Gulf of Mexico is a scant 10 miles to the west. Nearby attractions include: historical churches and cemeteries; museums, a horse racetrack, and various malls, theatres and spas. Wineries and breweries, as well as a slew of local restaurants dot the area, while beaches provide access to numerous recreational activities.
