Getting Outdoors

The cold waters of the lake and the 180-foot depth helps the lake to provide excellent game fishing opportunities, with the body of water packed with wild salmon, which is stocked by the state. There is also landlocked salmon, chain pickerel, banded killifish, brown bullhead and brook, and lake trout to name just a few of the species. The fishing season is open both in the summer and the winter months, therefore making a popular year-round recreational activity.

Camping at Embden Pond

One of the nearest campgrounds to the lake is Happy Horseshoe campground, providing the ideal balance between modern and rustic camping. There are both open grass and shady sites available when camping at Embden Pond, all of which have picnic tables and fireplaces. There are a large swimming pool and lounge area for those lazy days, free wireless internet, a store and food counter and clean, modern restrooms with free showers.

Exploring the Area

For those that are into skiing, Sugarloaf and Saddleback mountains are just short drive away, offering some of the best skiing facilities in the region. Both in the summer and the winter, the recreational activities here are endless, with mountain biking, golf, and paddleboarding in the summer to skiing and fat biking in the winter. There are also a number of shopping and dining options available for that true alpine adventure. Camp in an RV near New Portland to get the most out of this thrilling adventure.

This was my first Outdoorsy experience and it absolutely smashed my expectations out of the park! The RV was amazing, she took us all the way to Canada and back. Daniel (owner) was wonderful to work with and everything about the trip was perfect. Would 100% recommend.

We got great use out of Billy's wonderful RV. He was a great communicator and had it delivered exactly when and where discussed, and gave clear instructions. The RV was the perfect space for our family of three, two dogs, and occasional cousin sleepover during our vacation. The bunks were super cute and kid friendly, though could have easily fit an adult or couple in each. The queen bed was cozy, there was an abundance of storage, the lighting was really nice, kitchen great though we didn't need to use it. Everything was great for an overall positive first-time RV experience!
