Getting Outdoors

Hiking is the most popular activity among Dixville Notch State Park campers. Two trails that pass through the park. One of them leads to Table Rock, and this trail is suitable for experienced hikers because it is quite steep. However, once hikers get to the top, they will get to enjoy incredible views of the surrounding area, as well as the roads beneath them. Exploring the Area

Milan is a small town in the northern part of New Hampshire. It is a charming and lovely community surrounded by glorious nature. Visitors who go RV camping at Dixville Notch State Park will probably pass through this place on their way there, so don’t miss a chance to get to know Milan. The most famous tourist attraction in Milan is the Nansen Ski Jump. It is located near Route-16 and was constructed in 1936 by an architect named John Barnard Nichol. This was the largest ski jump on the territory of the United States until the 1980s. Nansen Ski Jump closed down in 1988, and it entered the National Register of Historic Places in 2011. Today, the impressive structure attracts visitors who want to marvel at the so-called Sleeping Giant.

The residents of Milan are quite proud of the ski jump, and they organize the annual event called Nansen-Milan Winter Festival every February. The festival brings the whole community together through various activities such as ice skating, dog sled races, broomball games, and many more. The festival-goers who just want to relax and enjoy the atmosphere may browse around the winter market or sip hot cocoa.

Should you feel hungry during your visit to Milan, you may find several restaurants in the downtown area. These are relatively small establishments, offering comfort food and homecooked meals. Those of you who are into antiquing may find several shops close by that sell vintage furniture, clothes, and many more.

There are a couple of gas stations near the main roads where you may refuel your rental RV. New Hampshire is simply fascinating, and should you want to keep exploring this state, head south to the city called Berlin. It is also known as Paper City because of the paper mills that once sustained Berlin’s industry.
