Horseneck Beach State Reservation Campground

Massachusetts is no stranger to summertime tourism, and millions of people from all over New England and beyond flock to its parks and shores to get away and relax. A large number of parks and recreation areas can be found when you're camping in Westport. Just outside your campsite, you can explore Horseneck Beach State Reservation. See the pristine beaches, with plenty of space to swim, surf, fish, and paddleboard. Demarest Lloyd State Park is right around the corner, practically on the same stretch of beach as your rustic campsite. Here you can also expect some stunning seascapes, along with epic sunrises. The park’s position at the mouth of the Slocums River makes it a safe and easy place to swim for children, as well as a great place for kayaking and fishing. While there is no camping at this state park, guests can have a picnic and go birdwatching. Massasoit State Park is located inland in case you want a change of scenery. Aside from a quaint campground, there is an extensive system of hiking trails, lush forest groves, cranberry bogs, and six lakes and ponds. In the wintertime, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing remain excellent ways to see the wildlife of this charming little park. Be sure to make your way to the tip of Cape Cod to see Cape Cod National Seashore, perhaps the closest thing to a national park in the area. This 40-acre swath of protected land by Provincetown attracts hordes of people in the summertime, with plenty of beach space for everyone to have their own privacy and comfort. Camping is encouraged at this massive recreation area in Cape Cod, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Hiking, biking, beachcombing, surfing, swimming, fishing, and birdwatching are popular activities at the lush nature park, where birds of prey and tiny sea turtles are part of the ecosystem.
