Scusset Beach State Reservation is located near the small town of Sagamore Beach in Massachusetts. The nearest larger town is Wareham, which is found less than 20 miles to the west. The nearest large city is the Boston metro area, at a little less than 60 miles to the northwest, while Providence, the capital of Rhode Island, is almost equidistant to the west.
This portion of the state is fairly rural and forested compared to the busier, more urban areas found nearby. The park is located on the shores of Cape Cod Bay near where the Cape Cod Canal opens into the bay. It is situated on the mainland, just before reaching the peninsula that extends out into the Atlantic Ocean. Numerous activities can be enjoyed here including water sports, hiking, and sightseeing.
Renting an RV at Scusset Beach State Reservation makes it easy for you to enjoy all the recreational activities it makes available. There are a number of tours offered through local vendors. Many of these are water-based, such as kayak or paddleboard tours through nearby canals and marshlands and boat, sightseeing tours of the local area.

Picnic facilities are also available that offer picturesque views of the local shoreline. From the park, a jetty sticks out into the bay to help guide large ships into the nearby canal. You can walk along it and observe some of these mammoth-sized vessels make their way through the narrow waterway.
The Miles Standish State Forest is located nearby, as well. Here you will find trails for hiking and biking. These can also be used for winter activities, such as cross-country skiing, when snow is on the ground. This is a prime area for viewing local wildlife, and it is known for the fall colors it displays during the autumn months.

The campground at the park is fairly large. It makes bathrooms and showers available for guests. Pets are also welcome here and on the park's trails. A stay here will offer the easiest access to both the waterways found nearby, as well as all the fun activities available at the park.
The Bayview Campground is in Bourne, at the opposite end of the Cape Cod Canal. It allows pets and offers sites with multiple hookups. WiFi, bathrooms, a laundry facility, and pool access are available, as well. As there is so much to do in this area, many people enjoy RV camping at the Scusset Beach State Reservation, so you should easily be able to find any services you may need.

It provides exhibits that describe the varying ecosystems of both the low-lying, coastal plain, and the shoreline that are found in the local area. Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum located in nearby Plymouth. Here, actors in period-specific dress demonstrate what life would have been like in this area when the pilgrims first came here on the Mayflower. You can observe some craftsmen working their trades, such as blacksmiths, or basket weavers. Plymouth Rock is also found nearby. This is believed to be the location where the pilgrims first arrived in the New World.
If you enjoy scenic drives, check out Route 6A (The Old King's Highway). It runs for almost 60 miles from Sandwich, near the mainland, all the way to Provincetown, on the tip of Cape Cod. Along its length, you will make your way through some of the country's oldest villages. Scenic views of the shoreline can easily be enjoyed, as well, and you may spot some lighthouses.
