Anglers from all around the state and beyond come to Red Lake to engage in open-water fishing. The season is open from mid-May and lasts until autumn. Many species are living in the lake such as bigmouth buffalo, goldeye, freshwater drum, rock bass, etc. The lake freezes during the winter, but anglers don’t see that as an obstacle. They return to do some ice fishing, which is a whole new adventure. With several bait shops near Red Lake, you don’t have to be concerned if you didn’t pack your fishing gear in your rental RV.
Camping at Red Lake
Now that you have decided to stay at Red Lake for a while, camping with an RV here is quite exciting. You will still have all the comforts you might need while you are in the area. There are two campgrounds located at Upper Red Lake which are situated by the water, so visitors have easy access to the lake. The campgrounds offer around thirty sites that can accommodate long vehicles. Visitors have access to hot water, picnic tables, and restrooms.
Exploring the Area
Before your motorhome camping adventure ends, stop by the town called Bemidji and see Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. This is the first roadside attraction ever in Minnesota. Paul Bunyan is a legendary character in the entire state because according to the legend, he was the greatest lumberjack in this part of the United States. However, nobody can say for sure if he lived in Bemidji or not. This didn’t stop the town from claiming him as their own. The 18-feet tall statue is quite impressive, and tourists interested in the roadside attractions come here all year round.
