Walker, Minnesota is a small town that sits on Leech Lake which is one of many in the “Land of Ten Thousand Lakes”. This incredible village is known for its glorious lakeside vistas and resort-like atmosphere, that welcomes countless visitors to enjoy the lake each summer.
Walker has been home to indigenous native people for thousands of years, like the Ojibwe and Dakota peoples. The area was first found by European settlers involved with the fur trapping trade, which would eventually result in skirmishes with the natives. Walker was officially founded in 1896 with the arrival of the railroad, while developing a reputation as a rough and tumble frontier town with brothels and saloons.
The town has changed considerably since its days as a frontier town, and now enjoys a reputation as a tourism destination.
