The Great Outdoors

The first place you’ll want to visit when you rent a motorhome in Kirksville is Thousand Hills State Park. Just outside of town, the 3,000-acre park is a popular weekend getaway for locals and visitors alike. As the name suggests, this park is blessed with many rolling hilltops which host three main hiking and biking trails and cover a total of 14.5 miles. The park’s main feature is its freshwater lake and swimming beach which is open from late May to early September. You can also rent a canoe, kayak, or motorized boat at the marina. If you have a lazy day in mind, then Thousand Hills State Park is prepared for that too, with over 60 picnic tables and camping facilities on site.

While there are no campgrounds to park your travel trailer rental in Kirksville city center, you’ll have no trouble finding a place to sleep nearby. Camping facilities are often available within state parks, and Thousand Hills State Park is equipped with two campgrounds. The larger of the two is open all year round and provides 54 RV sites with picnic tables and grills, 29 of which have 30/50 amp electrical hookups. Other on-site facilities include showers and toilets, drinking water, and dump stations.
