As the name suggests, you could get lost in the rugged, undeveloped forests of Wildwood State Park in New York with ease. Covering an area of 600 acres, the park ends on a huge bluff that looks out over Long Island Sound, a view you are not likely to forget in a hurry. The park is located in the town of Riverhead, and many people from all over the state and beyond, book an RV rental in Suffolk County to make use of the beautiful north shore of Long Island and relax on the beach.

The park allows people living in busy New York and the surrounding cities to escape to nature, and a festival held every fall helps to raise awareness of this beautiful attraction. The Indians were the first people to step foot in the area, but European civilization has now changed much of the Long Island moraine habitat. Thanks to its location, there is a lot to do and see nearby, including visiting the picturesque Hampton Bays. The larger cities of New York and the smaller cities of Newark and Edison, NJ, lie approximately two hours away respectfully.

Large sand dunes are also waiting to be explored, so if you don't fancy sitting relaxing, then a walk along the sound is always a pleasant experience.

There are 12 miles of marked trails in the park, offering some of the best hiking opportunities in Long Island. Due to the terrain, hiking up to the peak of the bluff offers some incredible views of the Long Island Sound and beyond. There are several trail loops ranging from around two miles to five miles, all of which are wide and very well marked, and maps are provided along the way.
