The Wright Brothers National Memorial is in Kill Devil Hills, NC. This is a small town on the Outer Banks, which is on the far eastern edge of the state. The nearest larger town is Kitty Hawk, which is a little more than five miles to the north, while the nearest larger city is Virginia Beach, VA, at around 90 miles to the north. The state's capital, Raleigh, NC, is over 200 miles to the west.

The Outer Banks is a small strip of land and islands that sits on the Atlantic Ocean. It is separated from the mainland by sounds, and most of it is all connected via bridges. This part of the state is known for being a tourists' paradise. It offers numerous opportunities for recreational and outdoor activities, from beaches and water sports to museums and natural areas to visit. Kitty Hawk RV Park is in that town. It is located right on the beach, so it is an incredible location. Due to this, though, it does not offer hookups. Pets are also welcome here. Exploring the Area

Another fun thing to do locally is to view wild horses! You can see these majestic animals at a sanctuary in Corolla, which is around 30 miles to the north. You can take an open-air jeep tour that shows visitors where the horses are usually found. Sometimes, you may be able to spot them along the beach, on your own, as well. These are wild animals, so please use caution around them and maintain a safe distance.
