Frequently asked questions
Q.
Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
It is a pretty big rig, so make sure you are comfortable driving a large vehicle. That being said, it drives very easily and comfortably, but avoid narrow streets and big cities - duh, you're probably looking for national parks and quiet getaways. I give everyone a 20min introduction to all functions of the van, with that anyone can enjoy this beauty to its fullest potential.
Q.
What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
Generally very flexible, just communicate with me early and I'll try to make it work. Pickup in Oakland or I can deliver it anywhere in the SF Bay Area, just give me a heads up so I can arrange for it.
Q.
How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
The good news is, you don't even have to, it all works out of the box! You can plug into shore power if you want to, but the batteries and solar should keep you going off-grid in most situations. Plus, you can charge the batteries while driving, if it is ever not sunny. Then again, its California so enjoy the sun and let it power your trip.
Q.
Can I charge my computer and other devices?
A.
Yes, more than that. 500 Ah of batteries will keep you going for a long time. You can heat water for 1-2 people (short camping showers) and still cook a tasty breakfast on the induction stove top. The California sun will recharge your batteries, so extended remote work sessions or remote National Park stays are no problem at all. Your biggest worry will be that you'll have to give the van back at the end of your trip :)
