You're in for some excellent outdoor adventures when you go RV camping near Friendship Hill. Coopers Rock State Forest is 30 minutes' drive south of Greensboro. It's a diverse preserve with iconic viewpoints blended into the forest background. Not far from Morgantown in West Virginia, Coopers Rock State Forest is a blend of canyon overlooks, sandstone cliffs, a lake, and a river. It's a popular destination for hiking and mountain biking, with numerous trails winding through its forest; in the winter, these same trails become cross-country skiing routes. You can raft, canoe, and kayak on the river or try your hand at fishing for trout on the lake. In Morgantown, Core Arboretum is a nature preserve on the campus of West Virginia University that is used for scientific study, nature education, and recreation; it's also a refuge for local wildlife species. Core Arboretum hosts activities, including outdoor presentations, guided walks, and a spring flower festival, to name a few. You can also enjoy a self-guided hike on the campus' many nature trails; many of the trails are rustic but maintained and easy to follow. Laurel Caverns is 20 miles east of Greensboro. The preserve is open from mid-April until late October seven days a week; once inside, there are miles upon miles of cave tunnel for you to explore. The caves are unlike most other caverns because they're formed from sandstone; instead of stalactites (upside-down cones hanging from the ceiling), the caves have been formed by wind and water shaping the floor, ceiling, and walls. Guided tours are conducted throughout the day until closing.
