About an eight-mile drive from Wellsboro, and 10 miles from Mansfield lies Hills Creek State Park. Established in 1953, the park is named for Hills Creek that meanders through it. The 137 acre Hills Creek Lake sits at the heart of the park. Many outdoor activities for both summer and winter draw Tioga campers here. Amenities include restrooms, water fountains, and a dump station. If you’re camping in an RV rental at Hills Creek State Park, you can reserve your site up to 11 months in advance.

Exploring the Area

During your camping at Hills Creek State Park, you will find several attractions within a 30-mile drive. From state parks, forests, and canyons, there is plenty to keep you active and entertained in the locality. Perhaps the most famous attraction near Hills Creek State Park is Pennsylvania Grand Canyon about 20 miles from the park. This is a beautiful spot to stop when visiting the area.

There are two great spots where you can view this Pine Creek Gorge. One area is Colton Point State Park sitting on the west side of the canyon. Besides the gorgeous views of the canyon, you are provided opportunities for hunting, fishing, and hiking. Leonard Harrison State Park is another interesting point to view the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.
