Getting Outdoors

Poe Valley State Park is a great place to park your rental RV when you need some time immersed in nature. The park is filled with seemingly endless forests, and throughout these forests are plenty of interweaving trails to keep even the most avid hiker busy. There are trails that lead to small vista overlooks, trails that surround the lake, and trails that will take you deep into the forest and away from all modern conveniences.

Be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled while hiking through the forests as there are plenty of exciting wildlife creatures to spot when you are quiet and observant enough. For those who aren’t into animal spotting, head to Poe Lake for some boating or fishing on the pristine blue waters. This lake is fed from a stream on both ends, so the waters are always fresh and never stagnant. Small boats without engines are allowed on the lake, and those who wish to fish in the lake should sort out their fishing licenses before casting.

Camping with an RV in Poe Valley State Park will give you the opportunity to explore the sandy beaches along Poe Lake’s shores. The beach is a great place to spend the day when you are looking for a relaxing experience, and with it being on the water it is easy to keep an eye on the family while you relax in the sand. Be sure to bring sunscreen, though, since there isn’t a lot of shade from the hot Pennsylvanian summer sun.
