We have taken our kids on legendary family bonding trips through most of the National Parks in North America. In the summer we love going to Michigan state parks or over to Wisconsin or southern Indiana. We also love the Black Hills of South Dakota, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park. And in the winter, we head south to the Everglades, Big Bend National Park in Texas, or many of the parks in Utah or Arizona. Other things to notePets are welcome! Our family has camped all over North America. We work at the University of Notre Dame and we have two kids. We love camping in Michigan at the many state parks throughout the state. We've taken our kids on big camping trips to national parks and these have been the highlights of our family life... nothing compares to the sheer awe of climbing a mountain, kayaking in a pristine lake, or sitting on a lakeshore and reading with a glass of wine. For many years we camped with a car and tent. Now we really love the convenience and comfort of our camping van. We built our own Sprinter camping van because we couldn't find anything out on the market that had the solar power and design that we wanted.

Have a question?Get answers directly from the host

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
We live near the South Bend airport and Amtrak station. Willing to meet renters at either of these locations for drop-off or pick-up.

Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
A complete manual of all features is above the passenger sun visor to answer any questions for the van that you can think of. (Really)

Q.How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
Casper is fully contained. With a 25 gallon tank that is easy to fill with the included garden hose, there is no need to be connected at an RV site for water. With 300ah of battery power, there is no need for an electrical hook-up, but if you are running low there is a plug attached to the inverter that can be plugged in at a 110 RV site. The composting toilet means not having to connect to sewage, but you will have to empty the pee bin occasionally.
