Discover Van Buren State Park, MI

One of the easiest ways to explore southwestern Michigan is to search for an RV rental in Van Buren County. This county is home to Van Buren State Park, and aside from the state park, there are many delightful natural and man-made attractions to explore in the area. The park itself is home to over 400 acres of land that is located along the shores of Lake Michigan. The park was officially founded in 1965 with the purchasing of 167 acres of land from a local family. Two more land purchases over the years has helped bring the park to the size it is today.

While RV camping at Van Buren State Park guests can easily explore nearby cities, such as Kalamazoo to the east, St. Joseph to the south, and Holland to the north. Because the park lies on the shores of Lake Michigan, the only thing that is directly to the west of the park are the pristine, blue waters of a Great Lake. Be sure to bring your swimsuit when renting an RV to explore the area, and don’t forget your sense of adventure.

Getting Outdoors

Being so near to Lake Michigan means that you’ll have easy access to a Great Lake while motorhome camping, and aside from water activities, there are plenty of other things to do. But, for those of you who love the water, Lake Michigan is a one-stop shop. The lake is huge and can easily accommodate nearly all water activities, including boating, swimming, windsurfing, paddle boarding, and more. There are also long, sandy beaches near to the park that guests can relax the day away on.

Van Buren State Park camping is a wonderful way to see the area, and there is a long trail that starts directly in the park that is fun to explore. The Van Buren State Park Trail will take you north for many miles, connecting through a few other, smaller parks and eventually ending in South Haven. This trail is a great way to stretch your legs, and it is also possible to bring your dog so long as they are kept on leash and cleaned up after.

Bicycle riding is another, easy enjoyable activity when you are camping at Van Buren State Park. There are a number of paved trails, some of which will take you to the beach, where you can enjoy at your leisure. Van Buren State Park is close enough to cities and towns in the area that it is easy to ride into town for the day, which will not only leave you feeling good because of the exercise but will also allow you to see the land more closely than driving would. Be sure to look for an RV with a bike rack when you plan to bring your bikes to the area.

Camping at Van Buren State Park

There are over 200 modern campsites at Van Buren State Park, all of which are located approximately 400 yards from the shores of Lake Michigan. All of the RV sites have access to 30 and 50 amp electricity, water, and the campground amenities. There are also picnic tables and fire rings at each site.

Campground amenities are not lacking at this state park, and guests staying here will be able to choose between two modern restroom and shower buildings. Renting an RV for a longer time can be even more affordable–a week or month-long rental could average out to less than $60 per day.

Are there RV rentals with unlimited mileage?

Yes! Each RV owner can choose whether to offer unlimited miles on their vehicles. You’ll be able to see if unlimited mileage is an option on any listing you check out. If unlimited miles are not available, you’ll be able to see what is included with the base rate and what extra miles will cost.

Are RV rentals pet-friendly?

Many RV owners allow pets in their rentals. Be sure to check the listing to see if it’s an option for the rig you have your eye on. You’ll be able to see if there is an extra deposit or fee for pets before you request a booking.

Do RV rentals offer delivery?

It’s also a great way to try out the lifestyle and different types of rigs before you take the plunge and buy your own. Already own an RV? Consider renting yours out to bring in some extra income.
