Discover Lake Striker RV rentals for memorable road trips

Lake Striker was created in 1957 to provide the local farms and industrial plants a source of water as well as the power to the nearby towns. Much of the landscape around Lake Striker is a patchwork of drought-hardy timber and small farms and ranches. Many of these farms are plant nurseries, supplying retail nurseries and florist shops around the country with plants and flowers.

Getting Outdoors

Though dominated by the vast Texas sky that looms large, Lake Striker is a not-to-be-underestimated fishing spot. Small but mighty at around 2,000 acres, the Lake Striker is home to one of the finest fishing spots in east Texas. Largemouth, black bass, and channel catfish are especially abundant, but fishermen can expect to also catch spotted bass, largemouth bass, other species of catfish, and crappie. Due to the inflow of the streams, the water can be very murky, but fear not, fish indeed swim within their tea-stained depths. In coves along the shores, bright green lily pads float in clusters, shading the fish and providing nourishment.

Camping at Lake Striker

In the rural countryside, far from hotels, it’s smart to camp in an RV at Lake Striker. With a few minutes’ walk, you can be fishing for your breakfast. Lake Striker Resort is the only campground right on the lake that allows RV camping. In addition to full hookups and several sites with waterfront views, they often regularly host live entertainment, usually on Thursday evenings.

Exploring the Area

In this corner of Texas, everything is supersized. Homes. Barns. And even the driving distance in between towns. Those miles will just fly by in a rental motorhome, though. Explore the wide-open rangeland and find the little out-of-way shops, restaurants, and quaint towns that dot the landscape. Cherokee Trace, near Jacksonville, TX, is a unique drive-through safari adventure park. See zebras, bison, camels, emus, and water buffalo without any fencing or rails in between. These animals have nearly 100% free roam of the 300-acre preserve. Photograph them without pesky chain link fences in the way.

We had a different camper rented from a different host initially. The day prior to our arrival, our other rental cancelled on us due to the camper having been in an accident. We were 500mi from home, and very stressed out over what we were going to do. The Outdoorsy contact person was wonderful in reaching out to several hosts for us, and this host responded. We so appreciated them allowing us to obtain their camper with such short notice. They communicated very well with us! And made a bad situation much better. This host was awesome! And the camper fit our needs.
