To the west of the Golden Triangle of North Texas lies the small city of Mineral Wells. The famed triangle consists of Dallas, Fort Worth, and Denton, although Fort Worth is the closest city to Mineral Wells.
Mineral Wells is named for its healing mineral springs, which first put the town on the map back in the early 20th century. This once popular resort town is famous for its historic buildings, and its spooky paranormal activity that has led to a variety of frightening yet fascinating tours of the town.
When you book an RV in Mineral Wells, you are within driving distance of some of the most magical parks and camping areas in the entire state, with the flexibility and mobility to reach any far corner imaginable. Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway lies within the city limits, offering people a place to get out and breathe in some fresh air while reconnecting with nature. There is a fantastic trail carving through the park that once belonged to a railroad company. There is a small canyon in the park that you can hike through, and lots of popular rock-climbing routes scattered throughout the area too. There are over 40 miles of trails in total that you can bike, hike, or horseback ride along, and some serene camping spots by the lake where you can stay with your Mineral Lake camper rental.
Possum Kingdom State Park has an interesting name and is a fantastic place to visit with the motorhome rental near Mineral Lake. The park lies on the edges of Possum Kingdom Lake, a 20,000-acre lake known for its bright blue waters. The park itself lies in the Palo Pinto Mountains, with breathtaking views of the Brazos River Valley and the lake. You can camp out with your RV, hike, boat, use the marina, go fishing, swim, or simply rest on the sandy beaches that line the large lake.
To the south, Cleburne State Park is a hotspot for all outdoor activities, with mountain biking and fishing serving as the two most popular activities. The Baker Hotel is the most iconic landmark in the entire city and a designated National Historic Landmark since 1982. This mesmerizing “Spanish Colonial Revival High Rise” is truly a sight to behold, built back in 1922 when the residents wanted to attract tourists to the town. The hotel would have two ballrooms, a massive pool filled with mineral water, a bowling alley, a gymnasium, and many other features unheard of at the time. The hotel has since been abandoned but retains its enchanting style. Many people have taken part of ghost tours in the old hotel, noted for its paranormal sightings.
The Mineral Wells Fossil Park is full of adventure, with lots of fossils scattered throughout the park in easy-to-find locations.
