Looking for some incredible nature parks to explore on your grand tour of Texas? The first stop on the list doesn’t even require you to leave Mineral Wells to find it. Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway lies within the city limits, offering people a place to get out and breathe in some fresh air while reconnecting with nature. There is a fantastic trail carving through the park that once belonged to a railroad company. There is a small canyon in the park that you can hike through, and lots of popular rock-climbing routes scattered throughout the area too. There are over 40 miles of trails in total that you can bike, hike, or horseback ride along, and some serene camping spots by the lake where you can stay with your Mineral Lake camper rental. Possum Kingdom State Park has an interesting name and is a fantastic place to visit with the motorhome rental near Mineral Lake. The park lies on the edges of Possum Kingdom Lake, a 20,000-acre lake known for its bright blue waters. The park itself lies in the Palo Pinto Mountains, with breathtaking views of the Brazos River Valley and the lake. You can camp out with your RV, hike, boat, use the marina, go fishing, swim, or simply rest on the sandy beaches that line the large lake. To the south, Cleburne State Park is a hotspot for all outdoor activities, with mountain biking and fishing serving as the two most popular activities. Mountain biking and hiking paths loop around the small park, and there is ample space to camp with your Mineral Wells RV rental, and there are some restroom and shower facilities too. There are some other great places to visit if you venture out and see the farthest reaches of the state, like Sam Houston National Forest and Big Bend National Park. Both of these storied parks and forests are far away but well worth the drive if you have the time and energy to do so.
