The closest large town is Fort Worth, about 25 miles to the southwest. Arlington, which is where Six Flags over Texas is located, is a little over 20 miles to the south. Dallas, Ft. Worth’s “sister city,” is just under 30 miles to the southeast.
The Great Outdoors
When you rent an RV in Southlake, you’ll gain access to some of the few remaining pockets of wilderness in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area. Grapevine Lake, about 8,000 acres, has a bounty of water activities, including fishing, recreational boating, camping, hiking and much more. Meadowmere Park also has a floating water park, which is one of the largest in Texas. There are slides, trampolines, and an obstacle course for your kiddos to have fun on all day long.
Boat ramps and launches are available for the public at several spots along the lake’s coastline. There are three marinas available if you are bringing a boat. Alternatively, you can also rent a boat at the Silver Lake Marina. It has jet skis, pontoons, kayaks and ski boats available. Fishermen can catch: largemouth, smallmouth, white and spotted bass, channel and blue catfish, and white crappie, so don't forget to pack your favorite fishing pole in your RV.
To get away from the crowds, hop into your RV rental and head up to Lewisville Lake. While this lake is a popular fishing spot for locals and vacationers, this reservoir is significantly larger at nearly 30,000 acres, and you won’t feel as crowded. In addition to six marinas, there are charter boats available and boat tours as well. This lake is stocked with largemouth bass, spotted bass, white and hybrid striped bass, white crappie, and blue and channel catfish. There are several miles of hiking trails around the coastlines and beachfront parks. This lake also is known for the “Party Cove” in particular, a small cove in which visitors spend their weekends tied up to other boats and listening to music and partaking in recreational activities with groups.
