Lake Willoughby is the main spectacle around Westmore. There is a quarter-mile stretch of public beach along the north shore, and another beach area found on the south bay that’s available for use. Swimming is allowed as is canoeing and kayaking. The water is noted to be on the chillier side but is otherwise in excellent health and condition. Given its depth, the lake takes longer than most to freeze up in the infamously cold Vermont winters. Which, if frozen enough, lace up some skates and glide across.
