Located on Virginia's Northern Neck peninsula, the town of Colonial Beach has the advantageous position of being a river and a beach town. It is bounded by the scenic Potomac River, Monroe Bay, and Monroe Creek. The calendar of Colonial Beach is packed with events all through the year, but one of the town’s favorites is the Boardwalk Arts and Crafts Fair which takes place in September. Stalls and booths line the wooden boardwalk along the beach, displaying a range of arts and crafts created by talented locals. You’ll find items in a range of media such as glass, ceramic, paintings, photography, and jewelry, so this a good place to pick up a souvenir.
