Discover La Center RV rentals for memorable road trips

La Center, Washington is a relatively small community just a short distance from where the Lewis River meets the mighty Columbia River; only a short drive up Interstate 5 separates it from the cultural capital of the region, Portland. The town was a major river transportation hub in its heyday and was where steamboats would offload their cargo to smaller boats as the Columbia River became shallower in late summer. When railways came to Pacific Northwest in the latter half of the 19th century, the town lost much of its importance and population.

The Great Outdoors

Paradise Point State Park is just outside of town, near the confluence of the East Fork of the Lewis River and the main channel of the Lewis. There are a few miles of hiking trails through the wooded area surrounding the river along with a sandy beach that’s perfect for swimming and lounging. A small disc golf course near the end of the park makes it a popular destination with families too.

RV Parks

La Center’s location near both the Columbia River Gorge and the Cascade Range makes it a popular vacation destination for RV tourists and there are a number of parks nearby to accommodate visitors. Tri-Mountain RV Park is just a little south of town and offers full hookups, showers, and laundry facilities. Being right off Interstate 5, it’s very convenient if you’re thinking about making trips down to Portland.

Exploring the City

One of the most popular attractions and a must-see spot when you get a motorhome rental in La Center is Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. The peak’s eruption in 1980 was the most destructive in U.S. history and the area surrounding it still bears those scars in the form of barren landscapes. Hiking to the summit of the volcano is possible, but most tourists limit themselves to the visitor’s center, which details the eruption and its ecological effects.

This van was super fun! It got us through our hot springs road trip with no issues. In fact, it made us want to get a van of our own. We got about 18 mpg which was better than I expected. Bed may be a little short for anyone taller than 5”9 but it worked for us. Would rent again!

We had an amazing experience renting Randolph’s van on Outdoorsy—easy five stars. We took our family of five through Zion, Bryce, and Great Basin National Parks, and the van made the whole trip effortless and fun. It drove great, everything worked perfectly, and it was such a game changer to just pull into camp and be set up instantly without dealing with tents and all the usual hassle—especially with kids.

My wife and I rented Robert’s van for a weeklong roadtrip up the Oregon coast, and our experience couldn’t have been any better! Robert and his wife were very friendly and took the time to thoroughly go over every aspect of how to operate the van and all of its features - which was useful to me as a first time camper van user. The van itself is truly wonderful. The van is 21ft but does not feel very large to drive at all. The van has a backup camera and blind spot detection as well which was nice.
