RV rental Lake Superior, MN: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

Often referred to as a miniature freshwater ocean, you cannot see the other side of the lake from the Wisconsin shoreline. While you can technically find swimming spots along the shore, it is recommended to proceed with caution and be sure that you are an experienced and strong swimmer. The tides are nothing like that of an ocean but can still rise and fall by as much as a foot with the addition of currents. Aside from this factor, the water is also notably chilly, only reaching 40 degrees Fahrenheit during the warmest of the summer months. But, if you’re up for the challenge and don’t mind the cold, the water is very clear and otherwise in great health for a dip. From the shoreline, sunbathing is an easy and relaxing option for those who want to safely take in the scenery while keeping their body temperature on the warmer side. The beachy areas are backed by heavily forested land. You might notice everything here has been left natural; there are no houses or farms making for a peaceful RV rental camping experience. Fishing is another popular activity that can be done from the shore or out on the water if you happen to have access to a boat. The species variety is aplenty within Lake Superior (78 species recorded) with options such as salmon, carp, trout, whitefish, bass, perch, and pike. Check about any licensing needs or catch and release rules before reeling your line in and thinking you’ve caught dinner. With as much forest as there is, you can find ample hiking opportunities and State Parks sprinkled around. For example, both Cascade River State Park in Minneapolis and Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin touch upon Lake Superior. Along the trails, you can find many natural wonders like caves and waterfalls as well as historical items like old campsites and lighthouses. Camping at Lake Superior means you will likely have to stick to one area unless you have a whole trip planned for various point around it. You can find plenty to keep you occupied no matter where you set up camp.
